Italy Puma 2009 Confederations Cup Kit / Jersey / Maglia

Puma and the Italy national team have officially launched the Azzuri’s kit for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. As rumoured, the new outfield player kit features a light blue colour not seen for quite some time. According to an Italian newspaper, the colour is meant to celebrate Italy’s FIFA World Cup victories of 1934 and 1938.

The new Italia kit also features the word Italia repeated across its body. The Italian national colours are featured in a striped design along the right side of the new kit’s shirt and the left side of its shorts. It is expected that this Italy kit will also be used for the Azzuri’s remaining FIFA World Cup 2010 qualifying matches.

First 'FIFA World Champions Badge' presented to Italy

FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter today presented the very first ‘FIFA World Champions Badge’ to reigning world champions Italy in Coverciano, Italy. The Squadra Azzurra are the first national team to receive this badge, which from now on will be awarded after every FIFA World Cup finals competition. The reigning world champions will be able to wear the badge until the next FIFA World Cup.

Gianluigi Buffon, the goalkeeper and captain of the Squadra Azzurra, added: “We are the world champions, but we would like to share the joy of wearing the ‘FIFA World Champions Badge’ on our shirts with all of the fans who were with us during our extraordinary journey back in 2006.”

There are two different versions of the badge – white on a golden background and gold on a white background. The FIFA World Cup Trophy, which was the brainchild of Italian sculptor Silvio Gazzaniga in 1974, is embroidered on the badge.

The Italians will wear the ‘FIFA World Champions Badge’ for the first time on 6 September when they take on Cyprus in the preliminary competition of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

There is already a similar badge for the winners of the FIFA Club World Cup. FIFA presented the first such badge to 2007 champions AC Milan in February 2008.

Unione Sportiva Lecce or simply U.S. Lecce is an Italian football club based in Lecce, Apulia. Lecce will play in the Italian Serie A for the 2008-09 season, after winning promtion from the Serie B in the 2007-08 season.The club was formed in 1908 and has spent a large part of its seasons bouncing between Italy’s second division and Serie A, where the team gained its first promotion in 1985.

Inter Milan Sulley Muntari Signing

APPIANO GENTILE, Italy – Inter Milan on Monday unveiled their second major summer signing with the arrival of Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari.

The former Portsmouth man, who previously played five seasons at Udinese, has joined for a fee believed to be in the region of 14 million euros (22 million dollars) and he will wear the number 20 shirt next season.

He joins Brazil winger Alessandro Mancini, who arrived from AS Roma, as the first signings made by new Inter boss Jose Mourinho.

It is a swift return to Italy for the 23-year-old after just one season at Portsmouth.

The Ghana international said he was looking forward to working with Mourinho.

SS Lazio Puma 2008-09 Home, Away, Third and Goalkeeper Kits / Jerseys

Back in June we brought you Tania Zamparo presentation of the the Lazio Rome Derby Puma 2008-09 Jersey. Now here are SS Lazio’s Puma home, away, third and goalkeeper kits for 2008-09. The third kit is the same as the Rome Derby kit. The team does not yet have a shirt sponsor for the 2008-09 Serie A campaign.

APPIANO GENTILE – Captain Javier Zanetti, Marco Materazzi, Adriano, Julio Cesar, Maicon and Amantino Mancini were the Nerazzurri models for today’s presentation of the new Nike kits for the 2008/09 season.

Nike presented a personalised shirt to José Mourinho, who commented: “The kit is beautiful, but it will only be beautiful if it’s a winner. It’s up to us now. We have made a strong start to our work and we will continue to do so in Brunico in the coming days.

“We play our first two friendlies there but I don’t like the term ‘friendlies’ very much. These are two matches we want to win to build a winning season.”

Inter Milan Nike 2008-09 Training Kits / Jerseys

Italian Serie A club, Udinese Calcio, introduced their new web portal, channel and 2008-09 Lotto kits during a recent press conference. The kit models are Udinese player Simone Pepe, Antonio Floro Flores and Giovanni Pasquale. The news shirt are among the best Udinese has had in recent times. The fact that the shirt sponsor is the sportwear company making the shirts makes them even better. These are definitely collectors items.

The team will be looking to better last season’s their 7th place finish in the Serie A.

Cagliari Calcio Macron 2008-09 Home, Away, and Goalkeeper Kits / Jerseys / Maglie

June 14, 2008 – Italian Serie A team, Cagliari, have launched their Macron 2008-09 kits. Team players Federico Marchetti, Andrea Lazzari and Davide Astori served as the models for the kits’ launch.

Cagliari finished in 14th place in last season’s Serie A.
