Ronaldo and Corinthians advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil last night as they drew 2-2 at Fluminense to claim a 3-2 aggregate win.
Up 1-0 from the first leg in Sao Paulo, Ronaldo and company silenced the pro-Fluminense Maracana crowd with two first-half goals from Jorge Henrique and Chicao.
Thiago Neves and Alan struck in the second half for Fluminense to tie the game up but could not get the decisive home and away aggregate winner.
“Our main target from now on is the Copa do Brasil,” said Ronaldo, whose side also face a Campeonato Brasileiro third-round clash with Barueri.
Corinthians will now face Vasco da Gama in la Copa after they beat Vitoria 5-1 on aggregate.
Internacional striker Nilmar scored a contender for the Goal of the Year on Sunday as his team opened their Campeonato Brasileiro campaign against a Ronaldo-less Corinthians side with a 1-0 win.
The striker neatly collected a cross on the right wing of the field and in Maradona / Messi fashion proceeded to dribble his way through at least five stabbing Corinthians defenders to score the only goal of the game.
Here’s a 3-minute highlight package of the Internacional-Corinthians game that starts out with Nilmar’s dribbling exhibition.
As a side note, Lazio have supposedly made €14 million bid for Nilmar. Expect to hear more about him in the future.

This weekend, Corinthians launched their 2009/10 Nike home and away kits. The white home kits were worn for the first time during yesterday’s Campeonato Brasileiro loss to Internacional. Here’s a look at the new kits from a photo shoot held late last week.
The home kit is eerily reminiscent of the Nike Korea 2008/09 home jersey. We’ve posted a picture it it below for your viewing pleasure.

Brazilian legend Ronaldo (also known as “O Fenômeno”) participated in his first competitive game for 13 months last night. The 32-year-old made his debut for new club Corinthians as a 68th-minute substitute in a 2-0 win over Itumbiara. However, the injury prone striker was left with a badly bruised and swollen right eye after being struck by a microphone during post-match media scrum.
Here’s a close up look at Ronaldo on the field during last night’s match. Wearing his famous number 9 shirt, Ronaldo had only a few touches of the ball.
Ronaldo’s last game for a Brazilian club was for Cruzeiro in 1994. Since then he has played for European giants PSV Eindhoven, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
Brazilian football star Ronaldo greets supporters as he appears on the field along with his entourage, during his official presentation, at Corinthians club, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on December 12, 2008. The three-times FIFA player of the year signed one-year contract with Corinthians earlier this week.

In case you haven’t heard oft-injured Brazilian legend Ronaldo (also know as Il Fenomeno), 32, has agreeed to join Corinthians Paulista on a one year contract. Corinthians Paulista are one of Brazil’s biggest clubs and have just won promotion back to the top flight after one season in Serie B.
Ronaldo had been widely expected to sign for Flamengo, where he had been training for the last four months, and his move to Corinthians upset supporters of the Rio de Janeiro-based club, who burned photos of him after hearing the news.
Without much delay, Corinthians have launched hero club 2008/09 shirts bearing the name of their new signature player. Here’s the first set of images of these kits.
These are based on a 2008-09 Nike template that have not been seen yet and are definitely based on 80s jersey styles. The stipes, V-nect and tight fit should make a good combination on the field. Hopefully, we’ll see Corinthians back in the top flight soon after last year’s relegation to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B. They’re currently first in the table.
